For those looking for a day out combining golf and sightseeing Sedona is an absolute must. Just two hours north of scottsdale along Interstate 17 through the mountains, it is a pleasant and easy drive.
Sedona Golf Club is set against the backdrop of the world famous red rocks of Sedona, seen in numerous westerns through the years. The club facilities are outstanding and the outdoor dining area is quite possibly the best setting we have experienced anywhere so make sure you fit in lunch at the golf club even if you don't play golf.
The course itself is a parkland style layout but with the mountain setting there are a lot of elevation changes and the views will definitely get your attention even if your golf is a little off!
Apart from the golf club, the scenic drive down into Sedona is breathtaking. Sedona itself is a small town, dominated by art galleries and you can quite imagine the number of landscape painters that have been drawn to the area over the years.
Just south of Sedona are three ancient Native American sites. Montezuma's Castle National Monument, Montezuma's Well and Tuzigoot National Monument are all well worth a visit. Entrance is cheap so it won't break the bank and with the sites located fairly close to each other you can comfortably fit a round of golf, lunch and all three sites in a single day.
